Enkutatesh (New Near Celebration)
It is the celebration of Ethiopian New Year every year Meskerem 1
(Sept. 11).
Meskel (the finding of the true cross)
It is celebrated every year Sept. 26 or 27 for the commemoration of
the finding of the true cross. The celebration takes place with the
firing of bunch of wood torches. It is one of the colorful
ceremonies of the Ethiopian Orthodox church. You must see this.
Abreha we Atsbeha
It is celebrated every year October 14 in Tigray 77 km from Mekelle.
Hidar Tsion (St. Mary celebration)
It is celebrated every year November 30 in Axum.
Genna (Christmas)
It is celebrated every year January 7.
Timket (Ethiopian Epiphany)
It is celebrated every year January 19. It is another colorful and
fantastic festive of the Ethiopian Orthodox church. A festive that
must not be missed.
Kidane Meheret (the Mercy of Covenant)
It is celebrated every year February 23 on Zeghe Peninsula at Ura
Kidane Meheret Church.
Hosanna (Palm Sunday)
It is celebrated before a week of Easter it is celebrated to
memorize the time Jesus went to Jerusalem at the back of a donkey.
It is celebrated in the compound all Ethiopian Orthodox Churches.
Songs and dramatic sins can be watched at this day.
Tinsae (Easter)
It is the celebration of Jesus Christ’s resurrection.
Irecha (Thanks giving to God)
It is the day of the Oromo Society thankng Waka (God). It is
celebrated every year at the end of September in Bishoftu town (Debre
Zeit) 47 km from Addis Ababa on the shore of Lake Hora. This
celebration is only celebrated by Wakkeeffena religion.

Delightful Food and beverages of Ethiopia
Injera
It is prepared from a small grain called, Teff. It is eaten with
different types of wats (sauces prepared from vegetables, bean
powders, meat, chicken, and other traditional foods etc.). Doro wat
(chicken wat) is the most Delicious and cultural food to most parts
of Ethiopia.
Tej – It is beverage made of honey, a plant which is called Rhmnus
pyrenoid, and water by traditional fermentation process. It is an
alcholic
Tella – Is a beverage made of malt, barley, wheat or maize, sorghum
or finger millet, Rhmnus pyrenoid by fermentation process.
Arake – It is a kind of Ouzo which is prepared from grains or
cereals by traditional high distillation process. Its alcoholic
content is about 75%.
Coffee –It is the most aromatic beverage.

Addis Ababa
Addis Ababa is the capital city of Ethiopia which was founded in
1886 by Emperor Menelik II. It is the third highest capital in the
world lying from 2300 to 2500 meters above sea level.
Since 1950’s Addis Ababa has been considered as diplomatic capital
of Africa. For being the head quarter for United Nation Economic
Commission for Africa (UNECA) since 1958 and the head quarter of
Organization of African Unity (OAU) recently called African Union
(AU) since its establishment in 1963. It is also a place where more
than 110 embassies and diplomatic missions reside.
Addis Ababa is a place where you can enjoy by having full access to
transportation, internet facilities, and hotels with different star
categories (from 1 up to 5 star and luxury collection),cultural and
international restaurants, bars, clubs, museums and the biggest open
air market in Africa known as Merkato exists.
There are many historical, cultural, and natural sites in Addis
Ababa to be visited.

Mountain Entoto
Mt. Entoto is the volcanic mountain that bounds Addis Ababa from
North direction. It is covered with very thick eucalyptus trees
which were introduced from Australia in 1890’s. Mt. Entoto was the
settlement of Emperor Menelik II before the foundation of Addis
Ababa. The palace that was built by Emperor Menelik II, St. Mary
Church, and St. Raguel Church, the scenery point to the city and
surrounding areas, different species of birds in the forest,
streams, marshes, farms, and steeps attract many visitors.
